Foreclosure Buyer's Guide: Part I

February 23rd, 2009

These days "foreclosure" has moved beyond a buzz word and become a household term you might use at dinner, casual talk around the water cooler and of course when talking to a real estate professional. I personally get asked if I've got any "hot" foreclosure deals, or know of any coming up at least daily. Most don't realize that it's a loaded question- or at least in this market. It used to be ...

Foreclosure rescure plan details & analysis

February 19th, 2009

Everybody has an opinion on this one, and they vary wildly. I personally have a bit of a personal dilemma in balancing the need to help correct the market and punishing those who were responsible and took out loans they could repay. As of Wednesday I still hadn't made arrangements, so I put off my mountain of work for a few minutes to take care of ...

Market Stats: Sold report for January '09

February 13th, 2009

On the coast the month of January reflects the awful and unusually cold/snowy weather we had for much of December. The homes closing in January in Astoria, Warrenton, Hammond, Gearhart, Seaside, Cannon Beach and all areas comprising the Clatsop MLS for the most part went under contract during December and the numbers certainly reflect this.

My prediction looking forward is that the numbers w ...

Seaside upkeep ordinance makes causes a stir

February 12th, 2009

An ordinance proposed by the Seaside City Council has stirred up a great number of Seaside residents, many whom are angry and upset. The intent of the ordinance according to Mayor Don Larson is to rid the city of eyesore properties. In my opinion that's a good intent, as Seaside is heavily dependant on tourism and the resulting revenues to operate the city and provide jobs to locals. However, ...
